Then, MySpace came along and social media took off. I spent every free moment I had (which wasn't much) reading blogs, writing blogs, reading, and talking to folks from all around the world. By the time Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest came along, I was all in! And as most things do, social media has evolved into being a pretty important part of everyone's life now. I have seen so many things come and go through social media, it's infinitely interesting.
The most interesting thing I have found is how brands can so easily boost themselves on social media. Considering it's literally my job now, I have been researching and reading as much as I can about social media marketing and how to run effective campaigns.
There are plenty of different ways to market on social media. You can have a blogger, such as myself (contact details on the contact tab above!), write about your brand or product and spread the word on social media. There are also PR companies, such as Behrman and PR, that can handle larger brands/companies as they generally tend to have large teams that are adept at handling all of your brand's needs. Social media marketing has become imperative for business growth these days. The ROI (return on investment) for social media marketing campaigns is very high, and brands walk away satisfied with the growth and profit from these campaigns.
By far, social media marketing has proven to be highly effective and indispensable to not only established brands, but small and upcoming brands. With the rise of influencer marketing, more and more brands are turning to social media marketing to showcase their brands and even introduce new products to the masses. By enlisting the help of influencers, public relations, and bloggers, more brands and businesses are able to reach more and more customers that otherwise would not have the same reach (thanks, algorithms grr!) as some other social media icons do. As someone who makes a living with social media marketing, I am really excited for the future of this industry! As with everything on the internet, I can't wait to see how it evolves from here.
How have you seen social media evolve? Have you ever found a new product because of a social media marketing campaign? Tell me about it in the comments below!
Yes an Influencer has an important place and a position of responsibility. Good position to be in!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely!
DeleteI have found a lot of products from fitness influencers that I have tried and liked. I hope to some day be a fitness influencer as well. :)
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean! I thought I knew allll about makeup, then I watched some beauty vids and....nope, I knew nothing about make up, lol! I am forever in debt to beauty influencers for sure! Good luck, I'm sure you will one day!
DeleteSMM is such an important part of digital marketing in general. I agree, it's evolved A LOT!
ReplyDeleteYep, it's just smart to market on the web these days!
DeleteOh my gosh, I remember when MySpace started, then everyone made the switch to Facebook. It's been amazing to see how much things have changed and evolved.
ReplyDeleteLOL, yep. The fall of MySpace was almost poetic!
DeleteI never really had MySpace. Like I set it up, but just never used it. Facebook was a game changer for sure. I love social media, tumblr I think it’s definitely become an obsession for some.
ReplyDeleteOh, I forgot about Tumblr! I have my game blog on there, lol. I got my blogging start on Xanga but it really took off on MySpace. That's where I fell in love with blogging. I sooo love social media as well!
DeleteI can't agree more with what you said, SM has a huge role to play in PR. FB, Twitter, Whatsapp completely changed how people talk to one another. Interesting times.

Very interesting times, indeed!
DeleteSM definitely has evolved a lot! It's really changed how we all shop, interact with each other even. It's a relatively short history but it really is fascinating!
ReplyDeleteSM is so important in our lives today, it is the best word of mouth advertising, which has been around since the beginning of time!
ReplyDeleteI started blogging in LiveJournal and Multiply way back in 2004. Back then, it never occurred to me that I could actually make money out of blogging. :)
ReplyDeleteI used to read blogs on LiveJournal! Right?! I love blogging so much I did it for free back then, lol!
DeleteWow. That was totally awesome. Social Media is a useful tool for business!
ReplyDeleteI also try to keep on top of the latest trends in SMM for work. It seems that Instagram is an especially hot way for brands to get new customers now - I recently bought a product only because I kept seeing IG ads for it, and so far I'm pleased with the results!
ReplyDeleteYeah, definitely instagram. I wish I was a better photographer, lol!
DeleteSM is so important in our lives today. It has influenced our daily lives a lot. Great information you shared.
ReplyDeleteSocial media is an area that continues to grow and I can see why the ROI is so good! I’m addicted to checking fb and have tried many products that are promoted on it!
ReplyDeleteMy weakness are the fashion ads. I always think there is no way that gorgeous shirt is only $12! Gets me every time, lol!
DeleteSO MUCH YES! And people should also understand that it isn't as easy as it seems.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely not as easy as it seems, I wish it was, though ;)
DeleteYes! Social media has came a long way.
ReplyDeleteIt really has.
DeleteYes social media is evolving so much these years, influences are super important, I am still not sure I can be called that way even in micro version
ReplyDeleteI'd say Nano influencer, which brands are seeking out more and more as compared to influencers/bloggers with thousands and thousands of followers. They're seeing better ROI with micro and nano influencers :)
Deleteive watched technology and social media evolve over the past 2 decades. I used to have a nokia brick phone and be happy I could play tetris on it, and then there was the myspace era. now im on every platform and have a smart phone. its crazy.
ReplyDeleteIt really is. Technology moves fast and I love it!
DeleteYes, social media marketing is really important. Unfortunately I suck at it :(
ReplyDeletePractice makes perfect ;)
DeleteI love how great social media is for small businesses.
ReplyDeleteIt really is!
DeleteI've been blogging for about 15 years now. It's quite different since when I started. I love aspects but hate others.
ReplyDeleteYeah, there can be bad sides as well. It's definitely different from when I started!
DeleteI am so happy that technology arise. Social Media Marketing helps me so much with my business. At first it was struggle. But day by day It get used to it.
ReplyDeletePinterest is the one that brings me the most traffic. If I could grow my Instagram faster, I bet that would replace it in the top spot, because so many sponsors ask for it specifically (but they want a larger number of followers than I have).
ReplyDeleteYes, I LOVE Pinterest! I only started using it this year and I have no idea why I didn't try it sooner!
DeleteSocial media marketing is extra important these days! It's quite the tricky and frustrating landscape but it truly works.
ReplyDeleteCouldn't agree more. I'm a social media marketing manager so it's great to see both sides of being an 'influencer' and working with influencers too.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteThey say they're going to a more organic route next year
ReplyDeleteThis year's buzz word was engagement so I guess next year's is organic ;)
DeleteAs we are more almost always online, social media are there for us too. And certainly, they influence us even if we don't really understand it.
ReplyDeleteMy insomnia loves social media, lol
DeleteI find so many products from the ads on Instagram and Facebook! I think I need to stop shopping though - I've bought so many things!
ReplyDeleteBut, the after holidays sales, though!
DeleteI've never had of Myspace but before Facebook I have an Friendster account OMG I miss my good old days.
ReplyDeleteA lot of people used Friendster, but I never had an account there :)
DeleteMaybe bloggers have the biggest piece of the cake but these days we are all influencers once we have social media accounts...
ReplyDeleteVery true!
DeleteMarketing the people along the social media is a good way how to catch up people's attention and focus. It is one of the best way to disseminate information because social media has a big impact to everyone and it has a big coverage, it could reach everyone.
ReplyDeleteExactly!
Deleteamazing post dear!
